Riverside, CA is all about the boba. Riversidians knows what a boba is like you know what a Slurpee is. It’s just common knowledge. Since moving to VA, I’ve been talking up boba teas* to my new friends. Friday night called for the official introduction of my friend Whitney to a boba creation. She was a bit reluctant, but relented when she realized I wasn’t really giving her a choice on the matter. She was going to try a boba drink: I had decided.

We discovered an adorable bakery that gives LARGE samples of its delicious products AND serves boba drinks. Whitney was pleasantly surprised by the deliciousness of the smoothie drink; however, we both agreed that winter was probably not the best season for a frozen treat. Burrr!

*For those of you concerned about my adherence to the word of wisdom:

Many American bubble tea vendors sell "milk smoothies", which are similar to bubble tea but do not actually contain any tea ingredients.

**Warning: do not use Google maps for directions to this location. You’ll end up on the wrong end of Fairfax. Always take the telephone number with you on adventures in the DC area.
